El grupo de teatro de improvisacion “Te Arto de Improvisto” nos hizo reir a carcajadas en el colegio de El Chocon, donde actuaban, ademas nos edjaron grabar un monton de videos y nos invitaron a una segunda actuacion en Neuquen, esta vez para adultos. No os perdais los videos.

Juan Franco convencio con unas llamadas a Daniel Lillo de que nos dejara actualizar el blog desde su ciber de banda ancha! Gracias Daniel y gracias otra vez Juan!

Juan Franco, blogero y encargado de la radio local, ademas de trabajar en el centro de informacion turistica, nos grabo con su camara hablando de la vida, del proyecto de una sonrisa, de Argentina, de Espana…llegamos a su oficina, de la mano de Marcela, para pasar unos minutos y nos quedamos charlando horas!! Gracias por ayudarnos a entender mejor a Argentina y por ayudarnos con el ciber, el chip del telefono, para la carpa, para todo…un gusto conocerte…seguiremos el blog!! Milbesos

Marcela Scherrer, directora de la escuela Francisco Pascasio de Piedra del Aguila consiguio hacer un hueco al proyecto para hacerlas dinamicas con los ninos de cuarto y quinto, ademas, nos presento mas tarde a Juan Franco.  Hablamos con los dos y del proyecto y del mundo por horas. Muchas gracias Marcela por tu carino!!

 

Olivia Alvarado (Paola,s mum) took us into her house a very cold morning 7 km away from the Chilean border to offer us some homemade bread and sweets.

Ariel, the head administrator from the Entrelagos public school was very kind to grant us some time with the 4th and 5th grade pupils. He also got us accommodation through his niece Karina. Thanks a lot for being so generous and gave us a little Chilean story class!!

Karina and her husband, owners of the beautiful and luxurious huts called “Las tranqueras” let us stay one night at their place for free. It was a very rainy night so it was very nice to have some shelter. Thanks a lot guys!!!

Barbara, journalist from Diario Austral Osorno published a video about A smile a hope on soychile.cl an online publication from their newspaper.

Maria Isabel Cradenas let us camp on her land in a day the world did not seem to care whether we get some rest or not, she also gave us some special homemade bread and cakes. Thanks a million!!

Irma y Orlando from Quinchilca, offered us water, bread and a shadow in a very lonely and almost desert road. Thanks a lot for your help!!!!

Ahnyulina and Cesar,as well as their family: Alfredo (father and son) and Luciano hosted us for a night as if we were another family member. Thanks guys for your hospitality, the laughter, that warmth and that amazing seafood soup!!. Big hug to you all in Sta Juana.

Nelson, sadly we don,t have his picture, is a reporter from “La Prensa”, Curico, he interviewed us and published A smile a hope on first and last page  in his newspaper. Thanks for that Nelson!!!

Moises y Maria Rebolledo let us camp on their vineyards and gave us an amazing wild tea from Chile, thanks a lot guys!

Nicolas y Claudia not only gave us the opportunity to have a close look at the way Children,s villages work but they also gave us the opportunity to talk to the eldest of the village and assist to a family event. They hosted us for two nights prepared amazing food and let us taste some of the best wines Chile produces. Thanks a million guys!!!

Angeles and Ricardo picked us up from the road and gave us a bed, a shower and great company for the night. Thanks a lot for your help, encouragement and those chips cooked on  fire!!!

Claudia, Mari Sol, Jimena, Gloria and Alicia as well as the principal Judith Marchon who is not on the photo are Patagua,s school teachers and made us a little space in the school to talk to the children. Thanks very much!!!

Salomon Corvalan Huerats and family hosted us for one of the most special nights of the whole trip, as well, Salomon who is a great singer/author donated to A smile A Hope a very special song. You can check it out on VIDEOS. It was a pleasure to meet youand we also learned a lot, thanks guys!!!

Juan Carlos Riquelme, let us sleep on Ibagache,s cultural centre for a night. Thanks very much, Carlos.

Natalia and the theatre group “El clasicografo” made us laugh for an hour on a row, dedicated the play ” La rana de Aristofanes” to A smile a hope and let us take some videos. It was a very special evening do not miss the videos!!!

Eduardo Cerda let us film her revolutionary puppet on Valparaiso,s streets. Thanks very much Eduardo, tons of luck!!!

We met Shanti Anderson outside one supermarket in Christchurch, she was riding a city-bike and ask us about our loaded bikes. This big moments of life that put you just where you have to be, so good things happen. She invited us to spend a nigth with her family on our return to Christchurch, so we did. Our time in her house turned out to be a very enjoyable 24 hour conversation, dinner, and good laugh! A very special family we hope to be in touch with. Thanks a million!

Tim Hurd was very kind leting us camp in the backyard of ST Lukes Church in Oamaru. He also collaborated economically with the project. Thanks a lot!

Ian Poulter is the Principal of  Bluestone school in Timaru, he gave us an hour in the schedule of one of the biggests schools we have been in NZealand. He gave us as well the opportunity of doing A smile A hope’s dinamics with 4 clasrooms, kind of a challenge for us. Thanks for your help and time.

Alison y Ken Linscott invited us to spend two nigths in their home in Timaru, it was quite special because Alison is very interested on fair trade products, as we are, and work as a volunteer for Trade Aid. They both share a very good and interesting conversation. It was difficult to say goodbye. Thanks a lot for the two copies of the Timaru Herald and for your magnificent hospitality.

Jenny’s husband invited us to spend the nigth in their big and confortable home in Rakaia (65 km from Christchurch). They also documented us on the consecuences of the Christchurch’s earthquakes. We spent a lovely evening with the family! Thanks a lot.

Matt Bateman, Burnside’s Primary School Principal must be one of the best principals we have met in NZealand, the way he manages the school, from a very open minded and multicultural way was amazing! He open us Burnside’s doors and make us feel proud of sharing the heart of A smile A Hope with the kids. Thanks a lot for helping us and for let us be part of the global idea of the school. Thanks as well for the economic collaboration. It was a pleasure to meet you.

Clesha gave us an hour with the kids at Cheviot School to talk to them about Ghana and Cambodia’s situation. Thanks!

Sue and Ian Page invited us to spend the hole day in her lovely an beautiful home in Gore Bay ( 8km from Cheviot). It was a very special day for us in wich we coud rest and ate very well in a great company. We slept in a very warm bed!!!! Sue also gave us a hat and plenty of food for the journeyand made us feel at home.  She also participated economically with a Smile a Hope. Thanks very very much for everything it was great to meet you!

Helen Ensor from Cheviot permet us to camp in  Saint Jhons Church. She also gave us some hot drinks. Thanks Helen!

Glennis Caldwell and Donald Sloss permited us to camp in their front garden. In the morning they let us have a shower and a beautiful breakfast! Thanks a lot guys!

Alan Straker, the Whitney Street School’s Principal (in Blenheim) made us a little space in the school’s agenda to explain A smile A hope Project to the kids and as well to make a few videos while they were performing their school dancing. Thanks for your time!

 

Fr Tom and Fr Matt sheltered us from a rainy nigth in Wellington and Fr Tom gave us some dinner and a very nice breakfast! He also gave us the first golden kiwi we have ever tried. Thank very much for your hospitality.

Barbara Williamson and Aorangi Logan werw very nice  inviting us to spend a nigth in the Barnacles Seaside Inn YHA  in Paraparaumu. A hostel that looked and felt like grandma’s house! Nice and comfortable!! Great company. Thank a lot girls!

Tania Hooper let us stay on her backyard almost without asking! She let us film a short video of her kids and as well she was the first kiwi to give us the first cash donations. She and her children ( 7 of them) Cheered us up on a very tough day after cycling 4 hours against the wind. Thanks to her and to the whole family!!!

Rex Wheeler, Manchester’s school principal ( or Willie Wonka)  made us a space in the school books week, and told the children abour a Smile A Hope during a little parade in wich all the kids were dressed as book characters. He was extremely helpful fitting us within his schedule at a sort notice. Thanks very much!!

Dennis give us a place to camp in a windy and rainy night, as well as nice breakfast and some food for the road the next morning. Thanks very much Dennis!!

note: Dennis expressely asked us to take the photo along the Salvation Army sign, we just want to note that even though we are very grateful to anybody that helps us “A smile a hope” does not suscribe to any credo or religion.

John and Jean from Hunterville give us shelter and a beautiful dinner and breakfast in the hall of St. Andrews Church. Jean’s soup was delicious!!

Rob and Jenny took us from the road side where we were about to camp and brought us into their lovely home. They shared with us an incredible dinner, their shower (very important) and a great guest room. We also learn a lot about diary farming next morning. Thanks a million for your kindness!!!

Josca not only gave us some spare parts vital for the trip, but also serviced the bicycles for free and was the only kind person to us in a very difficult day, he also kept our extra staff that we could not carry which meant being able to start the trip that day. Thanks a lot mate!!!

Rowena and Kelly are from “The Aucklander”  and they have interviewed us for the first time in New Zealand!!!

Thanks a lot girls!!!!

This is Hu Baoguang, he was crucial cheering us up in a hard fundraising day in Auckland to start the day with renewed forces!!!

“A smile, a hope” enjoys our deepest commitment as well as our compromise with the project, the volunteers and our integrity. But there are a number of individuals performing crucial tasks behind the curtains:

  • Nava: Standup comedian that has participated in Paramount Comedy contests. He designed and performed our presentation video for “A smile, a Hope”.
  • Joseba Etxebarria: We have drawn inspiration and strength from Joseba. He is the main motor of one of the projects that will benefit from “A smile A hope” fundraising effort: “Un Lapiz, Un dibujo” Regarding this project he is our mentor and counselor. He has also shared his valuable contacts and resources with “A smile, A hope”.

  • Brandon Mc Kay:  One Love Foundation founder and friend. His selfless work and compromise with some Ghanaian communities is an example to us. He will be collecting children stories and photos for us and projecting the final video for the Ghanaian children. One Love foundation is also a non for profit organization that will benefit from “A smile, a Hope” fundraising efforts.

  • Alejandro Fraile: Logo and image designers. Support and Project dissemination.
  • Laura Merayo: Laura is a primary teacher in Madrid. She will be coordinating a correspondence system between the Spanish and African children. Her school is considering to donate scholar material to Asaafa (Ghana) school.
  • Patricia Sempere: Administration and project’s account management as well as donations management. Facebook account.
